I really enjoyed this workshop from the start. The minute the tutors said “no planning just make” I was already enjoying myself. I find I prefer to work in a more experimental way, intuitively making instead of meticulously planning for hours and then making. I was truly able to let loose and be creative. Also, on the topic of time restrictions, this way of working was perfect for creating an outcome by the end of class.

My interpretation of my two words and image were very conceptual. I didn't want to create a sculpture that was a literal interpretation of the three. During the brief, my interest was sparked when one of the tutors mentioned sound as a medium of sculpture, as sound waves are technically a physical form. It encouraged me to include sound design in my final piece as it is an area of art that I am very fascinated with. If I could develop my piece further, I would create my own sound design for the piece instead of using David Lynch’s “Eraserhead” score. Also, I would make sculpture in a much larger scale and display it in front of a white backdrop. Since I didn’t plan this project but instead created a prototype so to speak, in the future I would go back and sketch my final piece based off the prototype and make alterations for the final, including the two listed above. I really enjoy this process of working and will try to employ it in future projects.

I would really like to specialize in fashion communication, and I think in order to be a proper fashion communicator, one should have an understanding of how all artists, including fine artists, present their work because that can be applied to a fashion communication point of view. For example, seeing how an artist presents an installation can be used in a fashion communication assignment. Overall, I really gathered a lot of knowledge from this workshop that I was not expecting to gather.
